12 Days and Counting....
I can't believe that I only have 12 more days until my St. Paddy's Day surgery! And...I get to hop one hour closer on Saturday night....lol....gotta love Daylight Savings Time this year!
I went on BariatricChoice.com and ordered all my vitamins for after surgery. I also got some Nectar for Stage One (clear liquid stage- for a week after surgery) in Fuzzy Navel---seemed like the reviews on that were all great. I will be bringing it to the hospital with me for day 2 & 3 post surgery.....
I went to GNC at the Cool Springs Galleria yesterday and the guy who was working there was actually pretty on the ball w/regard to WLS. His mom had gastric bypass last year and was very successful, he said; he was able to suggest a protein supplement for Stage 2--when I can go off the clear liquids---and they had sample packs there that you purchase, but they are smaller than the HUGE tub they offer. The sample packs were in vanilla & chocolate---he was so convinced I'd love it that I bought both. He was right. I made it last nigth & the chocolate was really, really good. Of course, the night before I tried a sample of the Unjury that I had and bleeeeuuuukkkkkkk.....it was really, really horrible. It was the chicken soup flavor & maybe if it were in broth, but with just warm water....chunky, blucky---my poor husband took a sip to try to be supportive---I could tell he wanted to spit it out, but he didn't & then said, "Its not bad". So sweet that after 11 years of marriage he will still lie to me to make me feel better...gotta love that!
Anyway, the AMP Wheybolic Extreme 60 is very good---no clumps, mixes great in 4oz of water--I added some ice chips & made it really cold & it was great----1 scoop has 20g protein and 2.3 carbs (.7g sugar). Glad to have found it. I am really of the mindset that drinking my chicken or tuna is just going to be part of this process and it's about nutrition and not how much I love to eat/drink something--but it is nice to find something that I am looking forward to having.
Things are moving along...I had my pre-op at Centennial on Monday---e'thing went well....I am pre-registered and ready to check in on March 17th. I got to meet Bre (who posts on this message board) and want to let everyone know that she is already absolutely beautiful & going to be a knockout after surgery----you go Bre!!
I also went to the Franklin support group (Centennial's) on Monday night and it was really good. Lots of great support in there ....a good balance of pre- and post-surgery patients.....lots of good info, including great discussion re: a tuna that's packed w/protein and stuff from Trader Joe's that works really well once I can eat food......
So, I am just posting to say "hi" and let everyone know the count down. I am ready for bikini weather this summer....lol....okay, I won't go overboard....but, I am looking forward to some cute shorts! xo, Micheala.

Ok so I feel really silly. I started the preop diet on Tues, went srtong til Monday, when I call becasue I was feeling weird, to find out I am not diabetic and was put on the diet in error. Is that not crazy? So I did not eat for 4 days, I am not hungry now, so I am going to use this for the next week to prepare myself for after. But I was like on my goodness, I missed an AWESOME potluck at work and everything. :)
Well, I just thought it was kind of funny, but hope all is going well, I will see you next Tuesday.
Oh noooooooooooo, Bre....okay, I shouldn't be smiling at that post---that's just wrong...you only have so many days left, per se. I was wondering when you were telling me about the pre-op diet. I only have to do the two day clear liquid diet, which will start a week from tomorrow (Sunday)...is that what they have corrected you to now? It is great that you have gotten through the wall & aren't hungry now....and they say that the less fat in your liver the better for surgery because they can really see things better. But, there was that potluck...lol!
I am going to go set the clocks ahead one hour & be thankful that I get to jump that much closer to surgery.....the countdown is on for us...9 more days!!!!! xo, Micheala.
